Careers at Buford Kids’ SPOT
Do Meaningful Work Without Losing What You Love About Being a Therapist
You became a therapist to help people, not to spend your days chasing productivity quotas or handling endless administrative tasks. At Buford Kids’ SPOT, we’ve built a relationship-centered practice where therapists have the freedom to focus on their patients, collaborate with a team that genuinely supports one another, and build a schedule that works for their lives.
If you’re passionate about helping children become the best version of themselves, we’d love to meet you.
A Message from Our Owner
Join Our Mission to Make a Difference for Children and Families
We empower children to reach their full potential through expert speech, occupational, feeding, AAC, and myofunctional therapies by building confidence, independence, and essential life skills.
Our mission guides the way we care for every child and family who walks through our doors. We’re looking for therapists who share that passion—people who care deeply about their patients, value meaningful relationships, and want to make a lasting difference through the work they do.
Our Philosophy of Care Starts with the Individual Child
No two children are exactly alike, and we don’t believe their therapy should be either.
Our therapists have the freedom to get to know each child, understand their individual strengths and needs, and provide care that makes sense for them. Treatment is collaborative, relationship-driven, and focused on helping children make meaningful progress.
Our team works together across disciplines, sharing observations, ideas, and expertise to better support each child and family.
We’re Hiring Pediatric Therapists
Whether you’re an experienced pediatric therapist or just beginning your career, there’s a place for you at Buford Kids’ SPOT. New graduates are highly encouraged to apply! We are currently seeking:
- Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologists
- Pediatric Occupational Therapists
- Pediatric Physical Therapists
Work in the Heart of Buford, GA
Buford Kids’ SPOT serves children and families from Buford and surrounding communities in a welcoming, diverse area of Gwinnett County.
Our clinic was designed to give therapists the space and resources they need to provide individualized care. Every therapist has a private treatment room, and our facility also includes a professionally installed sensory gym with swings, a climbing wall, sensory equipment, and more! We also have an art and activity room that provides additional space for creative activities and socialization.
The Freedom to Practice Your Way
Our therapists work as independent contractors, giving them greater control over their schedules and the way they build their caseloads. You tell us when you want to work, and we work to fill your schedule during those hours.
Once a patient becomes part of your caseload, you have the freedom to focus on providing excellent care. Buford Kids’ SPOT handles front-end administrative responsibilities, billing, and prior authorizations so your time at the clinic can stay focused where it belongs: on your patients.
You’re trusted to be a professional here. If a patient’s needs fall outside your comfort level or experience, you won’t be pressured to accept them simply because you have an opening. Care is a team effort, and your well-being matters too.
Benefits That Allow You to Do Your Best Work
As a therapist at Buford Kids’ SPOT, you can:
- Set a schedule that works for you
- Maintain ownership of your caseload
- Focus on patient care instead of administrative tasks
- Choose patients you feel comfortable and qualified to treat
- Collaborate with therapists across disciplines
- Work without the pressure of productivity quotas
- Build your skills by learning from experienced peers
Meet the Founder of Buford Kids’ SPOT
For owner Deb Hughes, Buford Kids’ SPOT is deeply personal. Her experience raising her medically complex son, Daniel, showed her firsthand how much families need providers who see the whole child, listen to parents, and are willing to go beyond simply checking boxes.
That experience shaped the practice she wanted to build: a place where children feel fully loved and supported, families have people in their corner, and therapists have the freedom to give their patients the care they deserve.
That same passion extends to the therapists on her team. Deb believes in giving clinicians the trust, flexibility, and support they need to do their best work while creating a team where people genuinely care about the children and families they serve.
Join A Team That Supports Each Other
At Buford Kids’ SPOT, collaboration isn’t limited to formal meetings. Therapists regularly turn to one another for ideas, share what they’ve learned from their own experience and training, and work across disciplines when a child could benefit from another perspective.
Everyone brings different strengths to the team, and that creates opportunities to keep learning from one another. Whether you’re an experienced clinician or early in your career, you’ll be surrounded by therapists who are willing to answer questions, share their knowledge, and help you grow.
We also want Buford Kids’ SPOT to be a place where people enjoy being part of the team. From working together in the clinic to getting together outside of work, we value genuine relationships and a culture where therapists feel supported as both professionals and people.

The Values Behind Our Practice
Passion
We want therapists who genuinely care about children and are invested in helping each one become the best version of themselves.
Collaboration
Great care doesn’t happen in isolation. We share knowledge, communicate across disciplines, and support one another when a child needs more from their team.
Individualized Care
The child comes before the numbers. Our therapists have the freedom to make clinical decisions based on the individual patient rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Relationships
Trust matters with our children, families, and each other. We value the relationships that allow therapists to understand their patients and provide meaningful, consistent care.
Integrity
We believe in being transparent, truthful, and doing what is right for the children and families who trust us with their care.
Take Your Career in the Direction You Want
Your professional growth should reflect where you want your career to go. If there’s a continuing education course or certification that can help you strengthen your skills or develop expertise in an area you’re passionate about, Buford Kids’ SPOT may help cover some or all of the cost.
There’s room to grow as a leader, too. As our team expands, we hope to create more opportunities for experienced therapists to mentor and supervise others or step into clinical and discipline-specific leadership roles.
Whether you’re building expertise in a specialty, mentoring the next generation of therapists, or developing as a leader, we want Buford Kids’ SPOT to be a place where you can continue becoming the clinician you want to be.
Hear What Our Team Is Saying
I have been working at BKS since 2020.
“Over the years, I have noticed that what sets this team apart from other clinics is the continuous willingness of everyone to go above and beyond for their clients. I have seen many instances, from all the therapists, staff, and even the owner, Deb, put in extra time and effort to get the most appropriate services to benefit a client. They will coach and empower parents, collaborate with pediatricians and other professionals, and search for equipment and additional services as needed, to optimize the client’s skills.I enjoy working at BKS because I can have a flexible schedule that allows me to work around my kids’ school schedules. I also like being able to work with amazing speech therapists and occupational therapists who welcome my questions and freely share therapy ideas. BKS is a great place to work! ” –MaryAnn
The environment at Buford Kids Spot really stands out in the therapy world.
“I’m given the creative space to build truly personalized, interest-based interventions across a huge range of areas—including feeding, daily self-care routines, play, social engagement, and complex executive functioning. We see patients from diverse backgrounds with wide-ranging abilities, which continually sharpens my skills as a therapist. What truly sets our team apart, though, is the culture. Management and colleagues offer a supportive environment that values work-life balance, giving me the schedule flexibility I need to perform at my best. Combined with the amazingly warm, welcoming families we partner with every day, it’s an incredible place to grow as a clinician and make a real difference. It’s rare to find a workplace that brings together such a strong sense of community, clinical freedom, and genuine heart." –Greta Blankenship MSOT R/L
